There are various branches in Engineering, their cutoffs differ from one another, gender to gender, Catgory. Another criterion is that Home State and Other State quota. But in general we can give an idea based on last few years' cutoffs. The seats of top NITs that means, NIT Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, Nagpur, Rourkela, Allahabad etc get filled within 6000 to 8000 rank. Computer Science and Engineering is one of the most demanded branches and the seats of CSE in any Institution are filled faster than any other branch. So for these NITs you must score at least 99.3 percentile in Jee Mains. And if you want CSE try to secure a rank within 3000 which means around 99.6 percentile in Mains. In NITs like Bhopal, Patna, Durgapur, Jaipur, you can get top branches with 98.5 to 99 percentile. Almost all the seats of NITs get packed within 30000 to 40000 rank in Common Rank List. And for North East NITs like NIT Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Silchar, Sikkim and NIT Srinagar, even if you have rank around 70000, you can achieve seats there. The cutoffs are lower compared to other NITs of India. Actually the cutoffs depend on various factors and it is based on previous few years' data so this might change this year. You can check the cutoffs of all NITs of India http://engineering.careers360.com/articles/nits-cutoff-for-top-btech-branches

Hey,

It is not predictable to give any specific number of marks. It purely depends on ranking. i recommend you to just go to the preparations in detail. Try to give your best in every possible way. Give hundred % of yourself. It is a game changing paper.

Thanks and regards
