It's not a caste; Muhammad is only a previous name added to one's name. Thus, it might or might not fall under OBC. To recognize as a OBC there are different factors for consideration as such income do include.
Currently, Muslims who fall under the OBC category are granted reservations. Legal experts claim that this quota is allowed because it is for the "backward classes" rather than a religious or caste group. OBC is not based on religion, but rather on caste. Furthermore, castes are not recognised in Islam. However, several States are thinking of giving backward Muslims who fall under the OBC category a reserved spot in government employment.
