Hey Aspirant,

Every topic is important in optics since they are interrelated in most of the cases. Ray Optics is the base of the optics which has been started by Sir Issac Newton and till date explains the basic phenomenons like Reflection, refraction, Scattering etc. in a lucid way and builds the formation of wave optics.

The main important topics in Ray Optics are:

  • Propagation of Light, Wave fronts, Reflection, Refraction, Scattering, Total Internal Reflection.
  • Then comes the Lens, Prisms, Reflectors, Optical Fiber etc.
  • Then comes the more advanced topics like Aberrations, Thick and thin lens, Ray Tracing, GRIN Systems, Surface properties etc.

Hope this will help you.
