I guess you are referring to Delhi University since you haven't specified any college or University. For every course there are some eligibility criteria and best 4 should be calculated accordingly. You must have been told for that particular course in which you were not matching the eligibility percentages. For future reference, calculate your best 4 percentage in adherence to the course for which you want to take admission in. Also, apply in the colleges checking the percentage for the category to which you belong to. Many colleges provide 1% concession to female candidates. So also keep sure to check that. You can also check out your suggestive percentage for different courses. Although they are not always accurate. Because, sometimes it happens that when you add a non listed subject, even after deduction the percentage is higher as compared to when other subject was included.
