Hy,
In IPU (Indraprastha University) counseling, if you floated a seat in the first round and were allotted a different seat in the second round (like the dual degree AI-ML), you generally cannot go back and retain your first-round seat after the second round results are declared.
Here’s how it works:
Floating Option : By selecting the "float" option, you indicate that you’re open to upgrading to a better seat in subsequent rounds. Once a seat is upgraded (like from IT in the first round to AI-ML in the second round), the previous allotment (IT) is forfeited.
Sliding or Freezing Options : If you wanted to keep the IT seat, you should have either slid or froze the seat in the first round. Sliding allows you to participate in the next round only for better preferences in the same institute, while freezing locks the seat.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to go back to your first-round seat once you’ve floated and been allotted a new one in subsequent rounds.
