Hello dear..
take Kerala as an example.if in neet 2017 all the top 10000 ranks happen to be bagged by the med aspirants from Kerala, since there are only 1250 govt seats in the mentioned state ,the remaining students other than the top 1250,will not even be considered to the 85% state quota. All the hard wok done by the neglected students are in vein.where as the students from the other states who have not scored as much as them will be considered to the med seats in respective states they belong.hence in these examinations even the worthy ones get kicked out.
so my point is your selection to any of the med collage will depend not on the all india rank you are gonna get but the state to which you belong to also, which is indeed gotta say a misfortune.
you are safe if u are from some less competitive state and not so if the other way around.(Actually there are 29000 govt seats in India so i must say you are suppose to get a govt seat in India with this rank.but its out of our control)
anyway keep your fingers crossed till the last minute.
Best of luck..
