Dear aspirant, you can definitely get a seat in NIT. Since you have no choice of NIT or branch, you can look out for the possible options by checking the previous years' cutoffs and opening and closing ranks for various branches in different NITs.
Check out the link - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/nits-cutoff-for-top-btech-branches
Considering the above link, you thus have the following options-
CIVIL Engg in NIT Agartala, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Nagaland, NIT Sikkim, NIT Mizoram, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Silchar, NIT Srinagar.
MECHANICAL Engg in NIT Sikkim, NIT Mizoram, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Silchar, NIT Srinagar, NIT Agartala, NIT Meghalaya.
MINING Engg in NIT Raipur.
It is quite apparent that you have a good number of options out there, based on your rank. Think about it and look for the field that interests you (you can get the detailed analysis of each branch in the above mentioned link). Also, if you have a location preference, then decide amongst the above options accordingly.
I hope this helps.Feel free to contact us for any further query.
BEST OF LUCK!!
hello aspirant,
at this score you may not get top nits, but you may have north east india nits , nit harimpur, nit raipur etc.
however every year cutoff changes and cutoff differes from stream to stream and college to colleges.
you have not mention which sream of engineering you want to pursue.
you may use career360 college predictor tool to know your predictable colleges,

With OBC category rank 16k. You have negligible chances of getting a decent NIT for top branches like Computer Science/Electrical Engineering, however you might get some lower branches like Chemical/Textile engineering in NIT of your state through state quota.
