My advise for him would be that he should stop going for pcm and should change his stream.It might not be his cup of tea.So, can have option to go for commerce and arts. Don't force him to do what he doesn't want to.Ask him what he wants and he want to study or whatever he wants to do in his life.Dont put any kind of pressure on him and give him some day off.Take him out and talk to him in friendly way that what he wants in his life and what his goals are..

Help him to achieve those dreams.

Sit down and talk to him patiently. Ask him what he thinks went wrong this time.

He can repeat again this year, if he thinks he needs more time to prepare .

If he thinks he did his best and still didn't get the result then ask him if he would like to take any other subject or maybe change his stream to commerce or Humanities if he wants to.

If he feels unmotivated seek help from a counselor or a psychiatrist to provide emotional support , confidence and help him in having faith in himself.

A right frame of mind is needed in such a scenario.

Finding out the loop hole is of utmost importance so that he can work on it and improve .
