My chances of getting in mechanical(other state) if my score is 246 in jee mains paper 1 jan 12 first shift??

Congratulations for your great marks.



Yes you have high chances to get more NITs and IIITs and some other GFTIs in mechanical branch even though you are from an other state



So you have so many options.

Hello.

It depends on your rank rather than your score if you can get into an NIT. The marks vs rank keeps changing each year along with the cutoff due to various factors like difficulty level of the exam and the average score of students etc. You could use the rank predictor to get an accurate estimate of your rank:
