We can say the scheme in first place aims at promoting education of girls by partly compensating cost of higher education of particularly those girls who happen to be the only or twin girl child of their family. Next, we may even look upon the scheme as a means of honouring parents who actually welcome birth of a girl in their family, while not considering them to be a liability or striving for a male child.
In addition to the Central Government initiative, several state Universities have also initiated steps like reserving some seats for single girl child. For instance, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D) have introduced a Single Girl Child quota, as per which all the institutes offering B.Tech courses in the state have to reserve one seat for single girl children from Delhi.
Hope this helps
Hello aspirant,
You can avail the scholarships that are provided by central and state governments for single girl child. There are many of them like swami vivekanand single girl child scholarship (svsgc) etc. There is no preference during admission process though, but definitely scholarships must benefit her always.
These scholarships vary some of them are for tution fees while others help you for accommodation purposes.
Hope this information helps you. All the best.
In NITs and IIITs , there is no such quota as single girl child. This type of quotas are only present in some specific GFTIs and state run government colleges. So please keep that in mind.
Hope it helps
