According to your rank and category , you can try for many iiit's like pune , bhagalpur , una , surat , kalyani etc , otherwise you can try for your home state amd medium nit also same is the case with north eastern nit's , the cutoff is generally lesser . Some good colleges like bit mesra and pec chandigarh also participate in csab, so you can get a decent branch like production and metallurgy  , in them .

Do apply for home state counselling also as you can get some good state government engineering colleges in your state .  Hence do apply for the csab round and state government counselling and you might get a good college .

You should have mentioned your home state quota. It is quite difficult to get into NITs with this rank. But you may get chance in Metallurgical Engineering, Bio-Technology, Instrumentation, Mining etc. departments of some lower NITs. But choice filling of JoSAA for this year has been ended. Hope you get into an NIT. You may opt for private engineering colleges if you don't get any NIT otherwise you can opt for JEE 2021 too.

As you have secured 18544 ews rank in JEE mains then sorry you cannot get any seat in any NITs during whole josaa rounds counseling.

Because nowadays the competitions are very tough and you have to at least score under 8000 ews rank to get a seat in NIT.

But with this much rank you can get some of the NITs during CSAB counselling if the seat remains vacant this year. You can get some good nits during csab round counselling like - nit durgapur (biotechnology), nit trichy  or nit warangal ( metallurgical branch) and some other good nits.

So there is a sure chances that you can get nits during csab rounds with this much ews rank if the seat remains vacant.
