A minor difference in father's name between your documents and his won't matter much in most cases, especially when sitting for an SSC exam.

But prepared never hurts. Here are some precautions you can take:

Clarify with the Exam Conducting Body:

Reach out to the actual body that conducted the exam (like SSC) and ask what their take is on a different father's name.

They may also counsel whether you should give such warnings.

Collect Evidence Documents:

Ensure that you have a photostat of your father's Aadhaar card and other evidence documents which will support your claim.

You will be needed to give more evidence about relationship, for example, a family photo or birth certificate.

Consult a Lawyer

If you are so concerned, consult a lawyer or solicitor who is a legal advisor. They will be able to provide you with concrete counsel on your case.

True Information: Both at the time of forms and during the application-admission process, ensure you give updated and accurate information.

Document Verification: As and when required both in the application process and during admission, be prepared for document verification.

Ask about changes: Seek any change in the eligibility criteria or documents as early as possible.

You can, therefore, reduce the problems that might arise because of this name mismatch.

Hello Aman,

It's good that you're paying attention to the details of your documents, especially since you're in the early stages of your academic and professional career. Here's a breakdown of the situation:

  • Name Mismatch : Your father's name is listed as "Ajit Kumar Sharma" on your Aadhar card, and as "Ajit Kumar" on his Aadhar card. This is a minor difference (surname vs. no surname).

  • Impact on Documents : Generally, small name differences (like including/excluding a surname) are acceptable, but it's better if documents match exactly.

  • Possible Issues : In future government exams or document verification, mismatched names might cause confusion or require clarification.

  • Correction Options :

    • You can correct the name on Aadhar by submitting a name update request on the Aadhar portal or at an Aadhar center.
    • Alternatively, you can provide an affidavit confirming that "Ajit Kumar Sharma" and "Ajit Kumar" refer to the same person.
  • Recommendation : For consistency and to avoid potential issues, it’s advisable to correct the name discrepancy.

Hope it helps !

Hello Aman,

Having your father’s name slightly different across your documents (with "Sharma" in yours and without it in his) generally shouldn't cause major issues, but it could raise questions in official processes like government job applications or verification steps. To minimize complications:

  1. Get an Affidavit : You can make an affidavit declaring that both versions refer to the same person. This document can help verify identity if questions arise.

  2. Update Aadhar or Other Documents : If possible, you can update either your or your father’s documents for uniformity. For instance, add "Sharma" to his documents if that aligns with most of your records.

  3. Carry Supporting Documents : Keep additional documents that prove the relationship, like your birth certificate, where your father’s name is usually listed.

  4. Verify Exam Guidelines : For SSC, banking, and government exams, it’s best to verify specific document requirements in advance and, if necessary, seek a clarification from the exam authority.

These steps should help avoid delays in document verification during exams or other official processes.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

No there will not be a problem unless you are updating father’s name in any ID and giving marksheet as your proof.but for future Ask your father to obtain an affidavit before the 1st class judicial magistrate that Ajit kumar and Ajit Kumar sharma are one and the same person. Publish an advertisement in one Daily newspaper and keep the original cutting with yourself. Whenever there is a problem between two names, produce this affidavit and newspaper cutting.this is one of the most effective way to deal with this name issue.

Hope this helps..
