It depends on which course you want to pursue in iit and also on which iit you want to choose.Basically there are four main courses, machine design, thermal, production and industrial. Generally priority of most of the students are 1st design, 2nd thermal than any of the remaining two.

• There is no fixed GATE cut-off score

• Anything above 700 should help you to get into IIT, but it is not the only criteria. Many departments in IIT conduct written test and technical interview.
• If the exam paper is very easy then many people will get very high gate score, so the cut off will increase.
