My general rank is very bad and category rank is very nice.but people are saying they only gave admission on genral rank.how does cap works?
Hi Piyush.
Well it is true that you will be given admission based on your state rank but belonging to a specific category (ST, SC, OBC, etc) gives you the advantage as seats are kept reserved. So, the closing rank is usually higher for reserved category candidates than for the ones who are from general category.
If you are confused regarding which colleges you might get then you can go through the previous year cutoffs by visiting https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/mht-cet-cutoff
You can also use the college predictor by visiting https://www.careers360.com/mht-cet-college-predictor?icn=mhtcet-clgpd&ici=clevertap-web-header and get a complete list of colleges where you can get admission based on your rank.
Hope that helped.
All the best!
Hello Piyush,
First of all, don't listen and trust the people who are not sure about anything. There are reserved seats for reserved category students. These seats are allocated on the basis of category ranks. As per the reservations, your race for admission will be with the reserved category candidates of your caste.
I would like to give you an example, If you have say suppose rank 1, and another candidate of your caste has rank 2 and both of you have applied for the same college, so definitely you will get a seat before the guy with rank 2. And if you haven't applied for that college, then, in that case, he will get it as he will be the one who will be having best rank amongst the candidates who has applied subject to any particular round.
So forget everything and just follow this,
I would suggest you go through the last year cutoffs of the first round of CAP Process on the following link.
https://images.careers360.mobi/sites/default/files/MHT-CET-2018-Cap-Round1-Cutoff.pdf
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/mht-cet-cutoff (For all rounds)
Make sure you look for proper cutoffs according to Quota (General-G, State-S, TFWS, etc), category (Open, OBC, SC, ST, etc) & also according to the university.
It would be easy if you go according to the marks obtained to look for cutoffs.
Best of Luck!
