Hi,

Do not worry . You can get admission into NITs too with this rank . But it depends on whether you are willing to compromise on the branch or the college. If you are ok with any branch , then you can get admission in certain NITs depending on your category whether you are OBC or General or SC/ST.

For instance the closing ranks for NIT Thiruchirapalli in 2016 are :

General - 13894

OBC - 30332

SC - 142870

NIT Warangal :

General- 10610

OBC-  24276

SC -  122869

Now if you want a particular branch , it would be difficult to get through , especially if it is something as sought after as CS or IT . You may be able to get Biotechnology or likewise . Your chances of getting your preferred branch increases if you apply in colleges in your hometown .

For further details , you can use college predictor to see which colleges you can get into :

Hello saksham, you can get various top NITs on the basis of your JEE Mains rank of 19473. You can get civil engineering in NIT Bhopal, NIT Durgapur, and NIT Jaipur, you can also get chemical engineering in NIT Jaipur. You can get ECE and mechanical branch in NIT Patna. I suggest you apply for JOSAA counseling for JEE Mains. I am providing an official link of 2018 JOSAA cutoff which you should go through by yourself.

Hi Saksham,

Since your preferred  branch is CS , it would not be possible to get admission in any NIT . And it would be a bit difficult in other colleges too because CS is the most sought after branch . If you have reservation benefits then your chances would increase. If you could specify that and in which state or area you would like to study then it would be easier to find a college . The number of engineering colleges are vast . Also you have a chance of getting into private engineering colleges . I suggest you apply for admission in every college in your vicinity , especially private ones. Because the admission process is prolonged . And if you are in the waiting list then chances are high that you may get through when some seats fall vacant . Even then it might be difficult to get CS .The competition is high . But do not lose hope .
