520 is a safe score even in Uttar Pradesh, a place where competition is pretty high.Your rank must be between 4800-5500.

And to the candidates in the worst marks range i.e. 490–500, I would say -keep an eye on the open counseling sessions or the mop-up round as they call them.

They are conducted usually after the central counseling is done with and the centre sends back the non-alloted seats to the state government for allotment. Candidates aren't notified about them and the counseling sessions are quickly done over with.

Last year students with marks like 495 (UR) got in while several candidates above that score couldn't. All because the other lot wasn't aware of the mop-up round.
