Lets see both are good options, If your aim is to join in Engineering, So the duration of diploma is three years and 11th-12th duration is 2 years. but after diploma course you can join directly lateral entry in Engineering and also you are study 11-12 you can't join directly in Engineering you have to pass in JEE exams. And also diploma students can give competitive exams but 12th students have to wait four years because they get their first degree.

BUT if you ask me, so I will say you that if your aim is to crack JEE mains and Advance for IIT then you can go for 11th-12th but if your aim is only engineering you can go for Diploma course.

First of all I will suggest you to keep calm and ask yourself what you want to do  because your interest in particular field will let you achieve whatever you are wishing for . Beside this I will suggest you to go through diploma after 10th as it will allow you to take a lateral entry. Further in diploma you will have more practical subjects then theory which will help you gain knowledge in practical field . Later on in your graduations also it will help you a lot .

people do diploma because they want to get a job early and they ant to get hired and be valued as soon as possible.

on the second hand, if you want to explore the departments of the academics , you should definitely opt for maths or bio or commerce , whatever stream you are interested in.

I would suggest you should go with 11th and 12th as the education structure of 11th and 12th is more thoroughly researched and have a relatively good academic structure and therfore will be more useful for your academic growth then a diploma.

Moreover, you will find a lot of career opportunities after 11th and 12th rather than diploma as some courses have 12th mandatory.
