My overall in 12 is 78% and (84% in best of 4). Am I eligible for NIT? Or is the individual marks considered?

Hello,

As per the official notification released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) recently the eligibility criteria have been revised for the candidates taking admission into the NITs. In order to qualify, candidates needs to have secured at least 75% marks (for general category) and at least 65% (for SC/ST category) in their Class 12th.

For more information you could go through the following link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/new-eligibility-criteria-for-nits-and-iiits-admission-says-mhrd

All the Best!!

Candidates should have aggregate 75% in their Class 12th in order to be eligible for the NIT.

Since your aggregate is less than 75% in PCM category but overall your aggregate is above 75% you are eligible for NITs ubder General category.

However if youre under SC or ST Category then you are eligible as criterias relaxed to 65% aggregate.

Is the PCM mark considered or overall?  I am under general category. The subjects mentioned were PCMBE in which I have 78% and my official ISC percenage is 84%( as the best of 4 are calculated). Will I face any problem during the counselling in taking admission in NITs?

Hello Shatabdo,

Don't worry. You have enough percentage in 10+2. You are definitely eligible for NITs. All you need is Good JEE Mains rank. Focus on your studies.

Good Luck

Thanks so much maam. :) Someone told me that it is compulsory to get at least 60 in all subjects(I got 59 in Maths). That created the confusion.
