My preparatory rank for st category is 481 can i take admission into preparatory course in iit.

If you get admission into iits through preparatory courses you should take it. With your rank you won't get branches of your choice in good iits. You should also consider taking drop and study hard as you are from reserved category it will be easy for you to get good IIT next year.

IIT is a very tough exam , so its not easy to crack also after dropping for 1 year . YOU BETTER GO to NIT .
