My preparatory sc rank is 1989... sc female. Will I get a seat in any IIT.....??
Hello,
So you got a 1989 rank but it does not mean a rank in JEE Advanced. Your rank is not alloted in JEE Advanced Rank List.
Preparatory courses mean that for one year you will be prepared and trained in IIT, and then after one year you’ll be declared ‘ pass’ or ‘fail’ according to which you will get a direct admission in an undergraduate course from next academic session.
Also, there are some vacant seats reserved for PwD, SC, ST candidates, which don’t get filled in the counselling, that will be allotted to the candidates of respective categories for admission to a preparatory course
So, your rank for the Preparatory Course is different from an actual undergraduate programme in IIT.
Hope this helps.
I'm glad my answer helped you. As for your dilemma, the preparatory course is only worth it if you put in excess hardwork. The course that goes on for a year heavily prepares you for a seat in IIT or prestigious B.TECH colleges. So its alot of hardwork and if older trends are to be followed, the final paper of the preparatory course is said to be harder than the actual IIT paper. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to scare you, I'm simply answering you with all honesty.
As for success rates, many students have gotten into IIT after this course and it depends heavily on your ranks. Ranks in the top 100 are needed for that.
Rest assured, if you do the course with due diligence you shall surely succeed.
Good luck!!
