You’ll get a seat through OBC quota (rank). I answered another similar question so I’m pasting it here too.
There is a very simple criteria for giving a seat to a reserved category student. The student gets the seat of his choice according to the rank which is (relatively) better.
For example, consider a student A with an AIR of 50,000 and category rank of 1500. Aapplies for IT at some college. Now, the system will see first if he can get IT at that college with his AIR (50000). If he can’t, then the system re-checks using his category rank(1500). The seat allotted using AIR belongs to the 50.5% quota, while the seat allotted using category rank belongs to the %age quota of that particular category.
If a seat under that category is available, then he is allocated that seat, otherwise, he is added to the waiting list, or his next preference is considered. This process is repeated till:
- A is allotted a seat.
- The choice list comes to an end.
This procedure is followed in both JAC and JoSAA.
Well brother, I can understand your situation. I know you have worked hard for JEE mains but I believe with 55k CRL rank you won't be getting decent college which I can recommend you.
Though with home state quota, there might be an increased chance of your's getting a seat but with such a rank it is very hard to get.
As, opting a very low rank NIT core branch will bring nothing good for you.
So, I would suggest you to prefer state engineering colleges. Some state eng. colleges are way better than even mediocre ranked NIT.
Also, I would recommend you to do take part in JoSAA and go to through all the round even the spot round. May be, some good fortune can turn your destiny.
Or the better recommendation can be
To prefer Thapur. It is one of the older colleges in education industry with better Alumni than many of the NIT's.
Thank You
