My rank in jee was 22820 and 2800 in EWS.Can i expect a decent branch in top 5 NITs by my EWS reservation like mechanical,civil etc.

As you scored 2800 EWS rank you will definitely be able to get a seat in good NITs .
But, as I told you top NITs demands best rankers, so you might be able to make to top NITs as your rank is good ,but ofcurse it's not so good enough to secure your seat 100% in these top NITs.

Hey Anurag, You have scored 22820 Rank in Common Rank List and your rank is 2800 in EWS. You can get seat in Top 3 NITs and you can even try for IIITs and that will be even best for you.
