To see whether you can get your preferred course we must look at the previous years closing ranks for CS and IT in VIT Vellore and Chennai,



In Vellore Campus,



The closing ranks for CS and IT were 7000 and 12000 respectively. So with your rank of 16000, you will not be able to get Vellore Campus for CS/IT.



In Chennai Campus,



The closing rank for CS was 14000, and there is no IT branch. So it may be difficult to get an admission in CS here, as well.



You can try to get an admission in Electronics and Computer Engineering in the Chennai Campus, which closed at the rank 45000 previously. You can also check out the various specialisation courses available with Computer Science Engineering.
