The best way to understand and study math is to make the idea your own. This means following the idea back to its origin, and rediscovering it for yourself. Mathematicians often say that to understand something you must first read it, then write it down in your own words, then teach it to someone else.
To study Math think logically; identify and state the problem clearly; plan how to solve the problem; and then apply the appropriate methods to evaluate and solve the problem.
Pratice math by hand makes you more effective reading and learning formulae and tricks to solve the problem.
