Dear Vamsi, AP State Government Medical Colleges are categorised into SVU, AU and OU areas. You need to be a local for that area to claim its local quota benefits. However, the cut offs for various areas in 2018 :

General category:

SVU: 458

AU: 473

OU: 454

In 2018, Kurnool Medical College gave a seat to General Category for a score of 578 marks. Cut off changes every year and is dependant on various factors like no.of seats available, no.of candidates apearing for the exam, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. Going by this, with an expectant score of 580, your son has very good chances also at:

Osmania Medical College

Kakatiya Medical College

Gandhi Medical College

Rangaraya Medical College

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.
