Hello,
It is a good branch and there is A good scope for this branch.
The most important thing here is that he is doing civil from a college like Iit which has very good placements.
Although in the beginning it will be a bit tough to adapt the culture and ragging and all.
But later it will be fine as this happens in every college.

IIT Guwahati is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in India. It is compared to the top notch colleges like IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and BITS pilani for its faculty, academic curriculum and placements. Getting a civil engineering branch here is a tough job and you should go for it if you have the chance.

IIT Guwahati is one of the best engineering institution of our country, it is one of the oldest IITs and hence it has a good reputation and good placement records. As far as the civil engineering is concerned, civil engineering isn't as much popular as Computer science engineering but still if your son has interest in it, he definitely will get a good package, the demand of civil engineers is likely to go up in the coming time and something can't be better than getting a B.Tech degree from IIT Guwahati.
