Hello Sreevidya,
Well to be JEE Main qualified , one has to first clear the required cutoff as per their one's category. Below I have provided 2019 JEE Main cutoff (percentile) category wise -
- CRL : 89.75
- GEN-EWS : 78.21
- OBC-NCL : 74.01
- SC : 54.01
- ST : 44.33
- PwD : 0.11
So if your son has cleared the cutoff as per his category then he is JEE Main qualified. On the basis of his perecntile, he can apply for admission into colleges. To get colleges like NITs,IIITs,GFTIs he has to attend JoSAA counselling process. For other colleges that acceot JEE score but doesn't participate in JoSAA, for those colleges he has to attend their respective counselling session. If your son is JEE Main qualified but didn't get a seat through JoSAA counselling, then he can apply for CSAB counselling through which he might be able to get a seat in NITs,IIITs,GFTIs,SFTIs. This particular counselling will begin after the end of JoSAA counselling.
