Hi Lakshmi!

Hope your son has done well in exams and preparing greatly for other exams too. Your son could opt for higher studies in either state, depending upon his desired course. One can secure a seat in government colleges and other state-aided colleges in Tamil Nadu by clearing TNEA process. For getting a government college seat in a particular state, you must have a resident proof of that state, so that your admission process is proceeded without any hurdles. If yes, then through TNEA process, you can get a seat in government colleges and other state-aided colleges in Tamil Nadu, by matching with cutoff marks. If you are looking for Karnataka state colleges, he must clear KCET exam and get a decent score to secure a seat. Studying in prestigious colleges give a respectable value to the degree. There are also many private colleges in either state which provide good educational facilities.

It is good to see that your son has a course decided which he wishes to pursue after he completes his high school studies. It is preferrable that he chooses a course for his undergraduate degree, based on his interests and ambition, and should not be influenced by any factors. He has a great choice amongst the streams presently available for studying i.e. engineering. He now needs to decide upon his goals and ambition in life. This would guide him in choosing the course designed for him. By pursuing a degree in courses which are based on your passion, it gives you a dedication so as to keep the spirits high. As engineering stream is considered, you are offered a varied number of courses to choose, ranging from Aeronautical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.

Presently, he needs to focus on studying all the concepts well to attempt his competitive and board exams and score well to get admitted. Choose your course well in your admission based on your interest. The weak concepts must be revised again such that they may not hinder your mark-gaining strategy. Depending upon his grasping skills, he can easily ace the exams. Wishing him that he gets a seat in the institute of his choice.

So, happy studying and good luck!
