There are many many factors which will affect your son's decision:

1) Does he want to persue his career in CSE or not : If yes, then he should go for colleges like NIT srinagar CSE or CSE in some IIIT.

2) He is not sure about branch :Then i would suggest you to go for better college. Don't choose mining or metallurgy in colleges other than NIT trichy, NIT surathkal and NIT warangal.

IIITs are not that good because they are very new. most of them are still under construction. But if your son is too much into CSE, then only the branch matters.
