My son wants to get into the computer field. He has passed 8th standard but do not want to continue regular schooling.
Hello Pushpa,
Regarding your question, being home schooled and not going to regular schools affiliated to some board is a practice that is slightly frownd upon in India. Even the premier institutes of the country like IITs, NITs, AIIMS, etc do not give admissions to home schooled candidates to their courses.
But, foreign institutes like MIT, Harvard, etc to name a few accept home schooled students and also give scholarships and fee waivers to talented candidates. So, all hope is not lost. Ask your son to focus on getting admitted to such premier institutes and follow his passion of computer science by brushing up his skills in the field.
One of the most common methods to get admitted at such premier international institutes would be to appear for and geet a good rank in the International Informatics Olympiad which will actually fast track the process.
