my sons gate score is 547 in mechanical and his category in general. what are the institutions he can get admission for higher studies

Sir, i am sorry to say but your son can't get any IIt's or Top NIT's. He can get various other NIT's like Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra or the North east NIT's.
Other than NIT's he can try various state Universities like Osmania, JNUTH and even Private Universities.
