He cannot get admission in any NITs or IITs because there no provisions provided by NITs and IITs for admission in B.tech/B.E 2nd year.So he cannot join in NIT.He can join in any state owned government college or private college after completion of his diploma in engineering.

Your son won't to be able to join any Btech programme at any NITs . But he can join B Tech course  from 2nd year at various government institutions through an entrance examination known as LEET .LEET  is conducted for diploma holders. You may also  ask him to apply for various state level examinations  which offer B tech and B E through lateral entry .

Hello there,

Jee mains is the qualifying examination for nits which is now held two times a year in January and in April.
Students having Diploma degree though can apply for jee mains but they can't take admission in any nits. However they can take admission in iits by qualifying jee mains and then jee advanced with good score.
The registration dates for form fillup of January maims has passed but your son can definitely  apply for of april mains whose registrations are likely to start sometimes in February 2020.
Once qualifying jee mains he becomes eligible to apply for jee advanced which is to be conducted in may and if qualified with good score he becomes eligible for admission in iits.
