Question : N is the largest two-digit number which, when divided by 3, 4, and 6, leaves the remainder of 1, 2, and 4, respectively. What is the remainder when N is divided by 5?
Option 1: 4
Option 2: 2
Option 3: 3
Option 4: 1
Correct Answer: 4
Solution :
LCM of 3, 4, and 6 is 12.
Common difference d = (3 – 1) = 2, (4 – 2) = 2 and (6 – 4) = 2
Since the common difference is the same, i.e., 2.
The largest 2-digit number formed which is a multiple of 12 is 12 × 8 = 96
N = 96 – 2 = 94
So, when 94 is divided by 5, the remainder is 4
Hence, the correct answer is 4.
