Name physics chapters which i have to do first for neet preparation?
NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)
NEET 2024 Admission Guidance: Personalised | Study Abroad
NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
The spectrum of questions asked in NEET has always been vast and there has never been a set pattern with regard to the topics that assume a greater importance in comparison to others. However, I'll mention below the topics from which questions have been asked pretty much frequently in the recent years.
TOPICS FROM CLASS 12:
1) ELECTROSTATICS : Questions on electric potential and capacitance.
2) CURRENT ELECTRICITY: Questions on resistances and batteries in series and in parallel, kirchoff's law and it's applications.
3)MAGNETIC EFFECTS OF CURRENT AND MAGNETISM: questions on Ampere's law, biot-savart's law, force between two current carrying conductors and its applications.
Magnetic field intensity due to a magnetic dipole and it's applications.
4) DUAL NATURE OF MATTER AND RADIATION: Applications of photoelectric effects.
5)OPTICS: Applications of lens makers formula, combination of lenses and mirrors, refraction and dispersion through prism.
Young'double slit experiment, it's applications are asked almost EVERYTIME.
6) ELECTRONIC DEVICES : Questions on diodes and their various arrangements, logic gates and their applications are being asked pretty frequently in the recent years.
TOPICS FROM CLASS 11 :
1) KINEMATICS : relative velocity and its applications. One question from this topic is asked ALMOST EVERY YEAR.
2)LAWS OF MOTION : Law of conservation of linear momentum and it's applications, friction.
3)WORK, ENERGY AND POWER: applications of conservation of mechanical energy.
4)ROTATIONAL MOTION : one question is asked from this NEARLY EVERY ALTERNATE YEAR. Applications of centre of mass and moment of Inertia along with rotational analogy of linear motions.
5)GRAVITATION: ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC.
Questions on gravitational potential energy and gravitational potential.
6)PROPERTIES OF BULK MATTER: one question each from solids, liquids and gases are asked NEARLY EVERYTIME.
7)THERMODYNAMICS: questions on isothermal, adiabatic, isobaric and isochoric process. Mostly graph based questions are asked or questions based on work done. Applications of carnot cycle.
8)OSCILLATIONS AND WAVES : THIS IS THE AREA WHERE QUESTIONS ARE SURE TO COME FROM.
SHM and its applications, standing waves in strings and organ pipes, fundamental mode and harmonics, beats, doppler's effects.
QUESTIONS WILL BE MORE OR LESS FROM THE ABOVE MENTIONED TOPICS, HOWEVER, YOU MUST CONSIDER GIVING IMPORTANCE TO OTHER TOPICS AS WELL IF YOU INTEND TO PERFORM WELL.
- As per the information in NEET brochure, they don't provide a blueprint of the number of questions contributed by the various topics mentioned in the syllabus.
- As per the analysis I have done during my NEET preparation, the most important (OR) frequently asked topics are:
1) GRADE 11: Kinematics(including rotational motion)/Dynamics/Properties of Bulk Matter/Oscillations and Waves
2) GRADE 12: Electricity/Magnetism/Optics/Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation
- Few tips in preparation particularly for physics:
1) Ensure that you are thorough with the NCERT prescribed textbooks. Emphasize on the solved examples because the analogy presented in the answers is quite similar to tackle NEET questions.
2) Then, you can read H C Verma for conceptual understanding; refer to solved examples in this book. To practice questions, you can use Pradeep's Objective Textbook.
Hope this answers your question!
