A branch of biology called "clinical embryology" is primarily concerned with the study of egg fertilisation and the development of healthy embryos. Medics with specialised training in Clinical Embryology are referred to as embryologists. An embryologist studies how sperm and eggs are used to create embryos outside of the mother's womb.


In order to enrol in an undergraduate course in clinical embryology, candidates must have finished their 10+2 in a specialty that is either related to or identical to clinical embryology. A bachelor's degree in a clinical embryology-related discipline with a valid aggregate score of 50%, or as determined by the institute, is required for a postgraduate cours e.
