Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG) - 2019

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is as stipulated in Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018.   Eligibility as per related Regulations is as follows:-

i. He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.

ii. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The Age criteria for appearing in NEET (UG) - 2019 is as follows:

For Candidates of Unreserved Category (UR)

born on or between 05.05.1994 and 31.12.2002

For Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PwD Category

born on or between 05.05.1989 and 31.12.2002

iii. Indian Citizens/ Overseas Citizens of India intending to pursue MBBS/ BDS from a foreign Medical/ Dental Institute also need to qualify NEET (UG).

Here's all about NEET eligibilty criteria :





  • Qualifying Exam


  • 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in both Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized board.





  • Minimum Age Requirement


  • 17 years as on December 31, 2019.


  • Candidates must be born on or before January 1, 2003.





  • Maximum Age Limit


  • Not more than 25 years of age for unreserved category candidates and 30 years of age for reserved and PwD category candidates (Case pending before Supreme Court; final criteria will be notified with the release of NEET application form 2019)





  • Qualifying Marks


  • UR - 50%, OBC/SC/ST - 40%, PWD - 45% (minimum aggregate marks only for PCB subjects)





  • Maximum Attempts


  • No limit on the permitted number of attempts.


  • Nationality


  • Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals
