NIT admissions are done through caste rank. That is why there is caste system present in India so that those who are needy can be helpful with this system. At present there are 5 major categories in JEE counselling process. Those are as follows.

  • General
  • General - EWS
  • OBC - NCl
  • SC
  • ST

Each category is divided into two subcategories and those are GENDER - NEUTRAL and FEMALE - ONLY. Counselling is done based on rank in these categories.
