Hello Arshad,
In mechanical and Chemical the core branch for engineering is the MECHANICAL. Now talking about NIT SURATHKAL its the 3 best NIT in indian but Chemical is a do or die situation. Where as NIT NAGPUR is the 5th best NIT in india. So i would recommend you NIT NAGPUR MECHANICAL as you have more opportunities than CHEMICAL Engineering. If you plan for MBA the MECHANICAL engineering will help you to get a great placement as it's the most demanded branch after MBA. But if you have interest in CHEMICAL ENGINEERING then go for it because then it will be really difficult for you to cope up with mechanical as mechanical is the toughest branch of engineering.
Even i am doing mechanical and it's really tough. But i am preparing for MBA. so think of future and then choose you branch.
I hope you will find my answer helpful.
All the best.
