Hello Sudhakar,

MMS Engineering which is mainly about mining, metallurgy, and metals. Their operation covers the Hunter coal region and focuses mainly on:

  • Electrical engineering and electrical trade
  • Mechanical trade
  • Light and heavy fabricating
  • Design and drafting
  • HME bucket and body refurbishment
  • Electrical & Mechanical Project Management
  • Dragline & Electric Rope Shovel Technical Support – Electrical

This is one of the branches that is going to be very much popular in the coming time.

Now coming to your question: NIT SURATHKAL vs NIT WARANGAL

  • NIT SURATHKAL:-The Department offers one UG program, three PG programs, a master's by research, and Ph.D. Students are given intensive training in conventional metallurgy, involving both practical and theory. Starting with basic subjects, students are taught application-oriented courses. The curriculum includes advanced topics in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Apart from undergoing industrial training, students are required to carry out the project work as part of their curriculum. he Department has shown strong presence in the areas of corrosion, physical metallurgy, solidification, quenching, powder metallurgy, electrospinning of polymeric and ceramic nanofibers, metal joining and forming. Some of the advanced facilities include TEM, SEM, XRD, FTIR spectrometer, contact angle meter, optical microscopes and Instron. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Association (MMEA) takes care of various students' activities of the Department and brings out an in house magazine NITKAST.  Now coming to fees, since it is a government college, the fees will obviously be less. The fees for this course is around, 2.40 lakh. The admission is completely through JEE main. The placement percentage for Mining Engineering for this year was around 66%. The highest package offered was 11.6 LPA and the lowest package offered was of 4.0 LPA. This year top recruiters were IOCL, Coal India Ltd., etc. And the average package offered was between 5-6 LPA. Apart from that, some students also go for placements in software companies, such as WIPRO, their placement statistics are slightly different. Now coming to infrastructure, NIT surathkal has an outstanding infrastructure. The campus has an internet speed of about 10mbps, very less crowd, free health care center available on campus, well-maintained classrooms, an ac library, neat and clean campus. The faculties are qualified and according to the feedback received from the previous year students, the campus has good faculty. They try to create interest among the children regarding subject.
  • NIT Warangal: https://www.nitw.ac.in/department/mme/ The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (formerly known as Department of Metallurgical Engineering) was established in the year 1965 with an intake of 30 students. The main areas of study in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering include Physical Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy (Iron, Steel and Non-ferrous Metal extraction), Mineral Processing, Heat Treatment of Steels, Manufacturing Technologies (Metal Casting, Metal Forming, Powder Metallurgy and Welding), Mechanical Metallurgy (includes Material Testing – Destructive and Non-Destructive), Corrosion Engineering, and Materials Characterization Techniques etc. The fees of the institute is around 65k per month. The infrastructure of the college is very good. The curriculum is updated and informative. The average package of this campus is around 7 lpa, while the highest placement goes as high as 28 lpa. Most of the placement for this sector is in oil and petroleum industries. Most of them try to go for masters. While some go for MBa.

So this was the basic overview of both the campus.

According to me, you should consider NIT Surathkal as far as MMS Engineering is considered.

Hope this helps

Regards.
