Hello,

If you're wholly and solely focused on cracking UPSC, go for graduation in humanities discipline such as political science, geography, public administration, economics, history as UPSC covers all these subject in its syllabus, and you can also have these as optional in Mains paper of UPSC, and choosing these will provide you more advantage in the sense, the optional paper is nothing short of graduation level studies, so your burden will minimize as you'll be already acquainted with the studies.

In general, there's no such restriction about belonging to certain stream will only make you qualify this exam, but yes, humanities students have their own advantage as they're already acquainted with the major part of the syllabus throughout the school as well as college academics life.

In case, you're not sure about this, you can also choose to have a back up plan, many engineering, CA, Medical field students too qualify this exam, so eventually it's all about your preparation, dedication and single-minded focus. The eligibility criteria of UPSC states that candidates need to attain 21 years and passed Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university, you can appear even in your final year.

Hello aspirant,

You can go with BA. YOU Can take economics, history as your subjects in BA. Although for IAS there is no compulsion for Bachelor of Arts .You can opt any stream. But it will be good for you to opt BA because it is related to upsc Syllabus.

For becoming  anIAS officer you have to clear the exam conducted by UPSC. On the basis of marks this post will be allotted to you.

Hope this answer is helpful for you.

Hi

If you want to be an IAS officer you need to qualify UPSC examination and when it comes to to choosing subject after 12th for your  for graduation,

then you can choose any subject or course of your choice based on your interest for your graduation

This is because,

to be eligible for UPSC examination there is no compulsion to be a graduate in a particular subject, all you need to be eligible is that you should be a graduate in any discipline

So you can choose any stream of your interest, but yes if you are interested in Arts then

choosing Arts or the humanities can be really helpful for your UPSC examination, this is because in Arts you will be learning subjects like history , polity etc which are a part of the UPSC syllabus so it will help you in your upsc examination.

Thankyou
