Hi,

Well, In IITs and NITs fees depend on your family income.

There are three criteria or say basis of fees distribution to the different groups of the students.

If your family income is below 1 lakh yearly, then your total tuition fees will be cancelled.

If your family income is 1 to 5 lakhs yearly then you will have to pay only 1/3 of the tuition fee as you falls under the category of students whose family income is 1 to 5 lakh. According to the rule, the student whose family income is 1 to 5 lakh, will get 2/3 of the tuition fee waiver.

And if your family income is above 5 Lakhs then you will have to pay full fees which is around 78000 for tuition fees. And Mess and Hostel fees will be somewhere around 28000.

For more detail about this you can follow the official NIT/IIT rules and regulations website, below i am pasting the link.

To avail this facility you will have to submit your income certificate that should be approved by the higher authority of your area.

Now if talk about IIITs then there is no such rule as fee waiver according to family income, one have to pay all the fees which is around 1 lakh per semester as tuition fees.

I hope this information helps you.
