Hello Aspirant,
Since your income level is mentioned on the OBC certificate , it may be accepted during verification but I would strongly suggest you to apply for OBC NCL certificate to be on the safer side and avoid complications. For now , while filling the JEE main form , you will not be asked to upload any certificates for verification. Only during the counselling period , you will be asked to show the documents. So yes, try to get a separate OBC NCL certificate to avoid being considered under unreserved category. In JEE Mains, there is 27% reservation for the Non Creamy Layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL).This can be beneficial during admission. Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC is treated as general category students and no reservations are given. There is a list of other backward classes (non-creamy layer) on the website of National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) called as Central list which has to be followed under JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria. Hence , I suggest you to check with the list once. Those candidates who fall under this list will be selecting the option of reserved category of OBC while filling the JEE Main application form. Other candidates who fall under OBC list as per the list of their respective states will have to choose the General category.
