Rishabh assuming that whichever college you might be checking is authorised by AICTE or university by AGC, P lacement is one of the most important factors which you need to see for shortlisting any MBA college. In shortlisting any college your first priority should be placed and then if you find out that two colleges are having same placement then you can look for other parameters. But believe me why it is important because after completing your MBA in 2 years if you don't end up with a good job with a good package then again you will face lots of problems in this heavy competitive world.

The Second parameter you need to see is ROI (Return on Investment) because if two of the colleges are offering a good package but one has a much higher 2-year fee then that won't be a good decision.

The Third parameter you need to see it's Alumni network. Interacting with Alumni will not only help you understand the status of the college in a practical manner which is mostly different what it is shown on papers but also you will get to know after college career perspective. Any b-school with a strong Alumni network always excel up and it will also help you in the long term.

Then after that, you can look for the course structure this way you can see that whether the course which you want is available or not. But believe me if you are interested in pursuing MBA then don't worry about stream right now, you will get a fair idea about all streams which is comfortable for you and in which you want to pursue your career at the end of the first year when you actually need to select a major and minor course.

And finally about infrastructure which should be your least priority in selecting a college. For example, FMS Delhi does not have a good infrastructure at all. It only has one academic building, only one hostel which allows room to toppers rest need to manage by themselves. But FMS Delhi is one of the top 5 b-schools in India with a fee of only 20 thousand for 2 years MBA programme and an average package offered is more than 20 lakhs per annum.

All the best!!

For a better understanding of the colleges in which you can apply, you can use the college predictor tool and pathfinder tool of Careers360. This also shows the college rating along with the other factors.

College predictor helps you to predict the percentile which you would have required to get admission in any college. This is basically useful before MBA exams and pathfinder helps you to find colleges in which you are eligible to take admission according to your scores.

Hi Rishabh,

Placement is one really important criterion while selection an MBA college. However, there are other factors you should keep in mind at the time of shortlisting MBA institutes for admisison:

Accreditation: Check if the college/institute is approved by AICTE or University by UGC. Apply with only registered or approved institutes/colleges/university.

Programme Structure: Check if the structure of the programme involves the topics that a particular industry demands (if you’re doing MBA in a particular sector)

Programme Fee: Some private B-schools have huge academic fee. Check if it goes with your financial situation. You may need to apply for education loan if it doesn’t.

Infrastructure: It’s not just about the building or campus. It’s more about the facilities that are essential for management studies.

Talk to alumni: If possible, talk to the ex-students of the college. They can tell the true features of the college.

All the best.
