This is the first time that VIT had to cancel its entrance examination and conduct admissions based on Board exams and JEE Mains. And it has also been announced that weightage will be given to JEE Mains score. While the marking and weightage scheme has not been announced yet, this answer is being written with general information. Once VIT releases any official information regarding the weightage and marking scheme, we would be able to answer your question with more relevant information. The selection for admission has been done on the basis of class 12th marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. VIT is a National level admission process while State Board is confined to Candidates of that particular State alone. Now in your State Boards, even Languages are considered while for VIT, only Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology have been considered. That might have played a major role in the rankings. And then during Tie Breaks, priority will be given to the Candidates who have scored higher in a particular subject. So these all factors do play a role. But the Board that you have appeared for doesn't play any rle in determining your rank.
