Hello,

If you are interested in a corporate job and career select a B-school or college based on their ranking, curriculum and placements as corporates dont treat MBAs or PGDMs differently. They want candidates that can perform well on the job. So,curriculum and faculty is important.

PGDM has Industry oriented structure and as autonomous institutes offer this course, therefore the curriculum is kept in accordance to the latest developments and also offers specializations. PGDM has a more practical approach and you get real time business world experience. Many reputed Business schools in India, as well as Abroad, give preference to PGDM students over MBA students. This is due to the practical insight which PGDM offers and MBA which is more theoretical lacks. Hence it gives you an advantage over other students.

At the end of an MBA programme, students are given MBA degree instead of a Post Graduate Diploma. You do not need any AIU equivalence certificate to accompany your MBA degree while to prove that you have done MBA an equivalence certificate is needed with PGDM. At the international level, MBA degree is well recognized for global employment opportunities and is acceptable by all the recruiters. Top B-schools in the world offer MBA degree and not PGDM diploma.

Keeping the above points in mind as per your requirements you can select between the two.

Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Hey!!

Boths MBA and PGDM is considered same in career aspects.
But, MBA stands for Masters in Business Administration and it is a post graduation degree course which is offered by colleges affiliated to universities.
PGDM stands for Post Graduation Diploma in Management and it is a diploma course offered by those institutes which are recognized by AICTE i.e., All India Council of Technical Education. Colleges should also be accredited to AIU in order to consider both MBA and PGDM equal.
PGDM is generally offered by the autonomous colleges but MBA is generally offered by those institutes which are recognized and affiliated by UGC.

Hope this helps...

All the best!!!

Hello there. Hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that there is not much difference between PGDM or MBA. It is just that MBA is provided by UGC institutes only which means that only a recognized university can offer MBA program. The PGDM is provided by autonomous institutes such as IIM, XLRI, NMIMS and many more. PGDM can be 1 year or 2 years depending on college but MBA is strictly a 2 years course. PGDM is considered to be more flexible than MBA because the institutes themselves have the authority to update the syllabus and therefore it is more practical exposure oriented.

Career wise both the courses are considered to be equivalent to each other.

I hope you found this answer helpful. Good luck for your future.
