Hello Ankita,
The candidate is provided with an option called "float" for JoSAA counselling. This option basically allows a candidate to apply for the next round and keep the seat allotted to them on float or on hold. So, if the candidate gets a better seat in next round, then the seat which was on float can be dropped. If the student does not get any seat for the next round, then he/she can freeze the seat which is on float and that seat will be allocated to you.
First of all you must mention the counselling name that in which you have applied for. Now as per your profile I can assume that, you are an engineering aspirant and is asking about josaa counseling ( as recently josaa counseling is going on).
Now if you to got allotted any seat but you want any higher preference seat in other colleges or institutes then you can use the float option.
FLOAT - this options means that you have accepted the seat and but you want to get any higher preference or upgraded branch in other institutes in further rounds, and if you will get them, you will accept it.
Now if you used the float option then you have to pay the seat acceptance fees for that allotted seat.
Now even though you didn't get any higher preference branch in next round then still your previously allocated seat will remain with you.
So rest assured, if you have made the payment and uploaded the documents then your previously allotted seat is fixed for you even if you not got alloted any seat in further round after using float. And if you don't get in next rounds then you can freeze your seat.
