In my opinion, it seems like jobs in the tourism industry in general (be it hotel management, tourism development etc) are well-paying jobs. These are jobs that give the employee a chance to travel, (In the case of working on cruise ships) or learn new languages (in locations that attract an international crowd) and many more.
But knowing the theory of tourism doesn't necessarily mean that one automatically becomes an expert in practically working with customers. One needs practice, patience, elegance and needs to be and act professional and be kind.
All the best!
