Pharm. D. is a 6- year doctorate level course, including five years of academic study and a year of internship or residency. The course aims to prepare eligible candidates students in the management of patient medication therapy and improving patient outcomes.
The basic eligibility criterion to apply for the course is a 10 + 2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized board and a qualified diploma in Pharmacy from any Pharm. D. College () recognized by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The average fee charged for the course in India ranges between INR 6 and 20 Lacs , varying across Institutes. Various institutes accept score GPAT () for the admission. Upon completing the course successfully, postgraduates are lucratively employed in both private and government hospitals, or run open their own pharmacy. The average initial annual salary offered to such postgraduates ranges between INR 3 and 10 Lacs , depending upon the candidate’s skillsets.

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to Pharm D course is to complete 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 55% marks. Pharm D is a professional degree course with five years of learning and one year of internship.The admission process might vary in different colleges.Similar course is Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) program which is of three year duration.This course is for candidates who have completed B Pharma.

First year - Human Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmaceutics, medicinal Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, Remedial Mathematics/Biology
Second year - Pathophysiology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmacognosy & phytopharmaceuticals, Pharmacology - 1, Community Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapeutics - 1
Third year - Pharmacology - 2, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence,Pharmacotherapeutics - 2, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Formulations
Fourth year - Pharmacotherapeutics - 3, Hospital Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy, Biostatistics & Research Methodology, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, Clinical Toxicology
Fifth year - Clinical Research, Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacoeconomics, Clinical Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacotherapeutic Drug Monitoring

Pharma D or doctor of pharmacy is a professional course in pharmacy stream. Pharma D course duration is of 6 years in total which includes 5 years of learning and one year of internship for practical learning.
For 6 years pharmD course student must have completed their 12th from a national/ state education board . they must have studied physics and chemistry as compulsory subjects with mathematics or biology as additional subjects. Student must have completed 17 years of age in year of admission
For 3 years pharma D course post bachelorette student must have passed a bachelor of pharmacy course from institution recognised under pharmacy council of India which are eligible for this course. and the student must have completed their higher education which is 10 + 2 with subjects such as physics chemistry and mathematics or biology.
There is another course which is D pharmacy which is the 2 years diploma course in pharmacy.
