MA in English is a basically a postgraduate degree in English Language, you'll study the detailed information covering the various aspects of literature, including British, American, Indian etc with prose and poetry, there will also be detailed knowledge offered especially about the language, the studies etc, some of the top universities to pursue this course are Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, EFLU to name a few, the eligibility criteria varies in the sense some universities may emphasize like BHU to have done graduation in English only, while this may not apply to other universities, admission process can be done through entrance exam or on the merit basis, after MA English you can qualify UGC NET, and pursue higher studies or teach in university, at state level SET is conducted  to teach in school you will need BEd, other than this there are good opportunities in media industry especially if you have inclination towards writing, and you can also pursue this course through distance learning.
