Hello Rajat

Every branch is good and has its own importance .

You can not ignore any of the field.

It's all depends upon you that what you are doing in that field and at what level you are doing .

Like

For a computer software engineer : coding and software are the main thing

For a mechanical : machine parts ; their working and strength is important

For a civil engineer : building and construction materials and strength

For electrical engineer : it's all about electrical wires circuit ; equipment etc.

So each field are interlinked .

But if you compare money and job opportunities in coming years it is in cs and artificial intelligence and coding.

But it is not that other fields are not important and have no scope.

You can earn as much as you can in any field it depends upon your personality and your skills.

So do whatever you want to do because if you are not interested in computer ; codings ; softwares than taking cs is wastage of every thing.

So good luck.

Dear aspirant,

According to me Software engineering, it posseses the following positive attributes

High gross margins

Low economic barrier to entry, small companies can create large new markets with minimal capital, one can actually achieve lifelong financial security with skill and luck at the right startup in the 4 year vesting period, not probable but possible, this does not exist for other engineering fields.

High rate of technical obsolescence,  older software products become rapidily obsolete because newer products are substantially more efficient, this means there are always lucrative startups and new ventures funded by an endless stream of venture capital, opportunities exist for the entire duration of one's career

Relatively minimal training, a bachelors degree or masters degree is all that is required, PhDs are possibly even harmful because the opportunity cost of forgoing practical job experience likely outweighs the incremental knowledge gained with additional research

Surprising most people are not adept and proficient at software design probably because the tools and technology are demanding and not very forgiving with regards to user (e.g. Programmer error) errors.  The upshot of this fact is tha software engineers are highly compensated and valued when compared to other engineers.  Being valued means simply better working conditions.

Good luck

Thank you
